WHETHER YOU'D PREFER EXPLORING THE HISTORIC CASTLE OF LINCOLN, COUNTRY WALKS ACROSS THE ROLLING WOLDS, RUMMAGING THROUGH THE ANTIQUE HOARDS OF HORNCASTLE OR MEANDERING THROUGH THE BUSTLING STREETS OF LOUTH, THE VINE IS THE PERFECT LOCATION FOR YOUR STAY.

Set in the sleepy village of South Thoresby, a stones throw from the quiet market town of Alford.  The Alford Manor House is worth a visit - anyone with an interest in history will enjoy a tour around the house, gardens and museum.     Alford loves a celebration and if you have the opportunity to explore on a bank holiday, there will often be craft markets, live music and entertainment and the occasional Morris Dancer!

There is an excellent array of walks right on our doorstep and the surrounding area, whether you are after a short wander or a full ramble!   Starting from The Vine, guests can take part in a local figure of eight walk of 5 miles (which can be done in two stages) around the parish of South Thoresby.  The South Thoresby Warren Local Nature Reserve (a former landfill site) is now home to rabbits and an abundance of wildlife which can be seen as you pass through on the walk.

If you are wanting to travel a little further afield, *the golden sandy beaches of the East Coast are only a 15 minute drive from The Vine, and in about 20 minutes drive, you can reach the picturesque market towns of Horncastle and Louth.

Lincolnshire offers a wealth of nature to see, with nature reserves at Gibraltar Point, bird sanctuary at Claythorpe Watermill or seal and animal sanctuaries at nearby Mablethorpe and Skegness.  If you have the opportunity to visit in November/ December, we strongly recommend a trip to Donna Nook, a 30 minute drive, where you can view seals on the beach with their pups!

If you are interested in a historical day out, try visiting the beautiful Gunby Hall (15 minutes), Tattershall Castle (35 minutes) or make a full day of it and visit the cultural city of Lincoln.  Lincoln offers its iconic Cathedral, Castle and Steep Hill, alongside a wealth of shops, bars and restaurants, and less than an hours drive from South Thoresby.

Fancy bringing your golf clubs or fishing rods? The excellent golf course, driving range and fishing lakes of Woodthorpe Leisure Park are only 3 miles away.  Or perhaps a day of high speed racing, with famed Cadwell Park only 15 minutes from The Vine!
